For the AI governance lead who owns the quality requirement set
The AI quality model is being replaced. Know what your set says today.
ISO/IEC 25059:2023 is the quality model your AI requirements are read against today. The second edition is at FDIS, with a service model, environmental sustainability and a 2023 base. This site states the published model clause by clause, separates what the public record proves from what it does not, and gives you the evidence and a dated plan.
Read from the real rules, not invented. Every answer this site gives points to the official rule behind it, so you can check any line yourself.

Second edition at FDISIs the set ready for the edition change?
Six questions. The check returns a coverage reading, the perspectives the answers do not cover, three actions in order, and a dated plan. It runs in the browser and sends nothing.
Coverage, not conformity
It applies the characteristics in the record and the dates you enter. It does not audit the requirements, does not decide whether a contract claim is met, and does not replace an assessor.
The model your set is read against
The published edition's clauses and the public draft's additions, each with its own page: what the element is, what the 2023 edition said, what the public draft changes, the evidence a reviewer asks for, the common gaps and what to do before publication.

What the public record shows, and what it does not
Edition 2, stage 50.00
ISO records an FDIS prepared by ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 42, registered on 23 July 2026. The title is now plural. It will replace the 2023 edition.
Read the stage recordThree models, and the environment
The public draft aligns to the 2023 product and quality-in-use models, adds an AI service quality model and adds environmental sustainability. The foreword lists the four changes.
What changesThe FDIS text and a clause level diff
The FDIS text is not public and may differ from the draft. This site does not invent a clause level change, and says so on every page that touches the revision.

The rules this is built from
Every line names its source. The 25 records are written from the published ISO/IEC 25059:2023, in our words, with the clause cited. The change layer is read from the public draft of the second edition and the ISO stage record. Where the public record is silent, the page says so.
Clause by clause, and the annexes
Each page states what the model element is, what the 2023 edition said, what the public draft changes, the evidence a reviewer asks for and the common gaps.
Open the recordThe change, labelled
The second edition adds a service model and environmental sustainability, and moves two characteristics to better parents. Each page says which and why.
What changesNo invented date
The FDIS is at 50.00. ISO records no publication date. The planning date is an estimate and is labelled wherever it appears.

What buyers ask
What is ISO/IEC 25059?
It is the SQuaRE quality model for AI systems. It extends the general product and quality-in-use models with AI-specific characteristics such as user controllability, functional adaptability, robustness, transparency and intervenability. The published edition is ISO/IEC 25059:2023. Read the record.
Is ISO/IEC 25059 a certification standard?
No. It defines a quality model. It sets no requirements an organisation can be certified against, and there is no accreditation or transition scheme for it. A buyer can adopt the model in a quality plan or a contract, and an assessor can then examine the evidence. That is different from a certificate.
What changes in the second edition?
The public draft aligns the model to the 2023 product and quality-in-use models, adds an AI service quality model with traceability, service adaptability and customizability, and adds environmental sustainability. The FDIS is at stage 50.00 and its text is not public. Read what changes and the limit on what is confirmed.
When will the second edition be published?
ISO records stage 50.00 on 23 July 2026 and no publication date. The next stage had no date when this page was retrieved. This site uses 15 February 2027 as a planning estimate and labels it an estimate everywhere. The stage timeline shows the recorded dates.
Do we have to transition?
No. The standard is voluntary and there is no transition audit. The practical reason to act is that the published edition cites a base model that has been replaced, and the second edition adds models and characteristics your quality set may not cover. The decision, the date and the reason are yours to record.
What do I get for USD 299?
The quality model kit: the full 25-record register, the 75-item evidence list, the 2023 to second edition change table and a dated plan, as PDF, CSV and XLSX, plus the fill-in quality requirement sheet. The labelled specimen shows the shape. The change watch is USD 29 a month and emails you when the record, a date or the stage changes.
Where the record comes from
The model record is read from the published ISO/IEC 25059:2023, checked on 20 October 2026. The change record is read from the ISO standard page 88234 and the public draft of the second edition. It is not written from memory or from a search snippet. Where the public record does not show a change, the page says so rather than inventing one. Read the sources and the method.
