Is your AI quality requirement set ready for the edition change?
Answer six questions about the set. The check returns a coverage reading, the perspectives the answers do not cover, three actions in the order that costs least, and a dated plan to your target. It is computed in the browser from this record and never leaves the page.
ISO/IEC 25059:2023, first edition
That is the edition a quality requirement set is read against today, 20 October 2026. The FDIS does not replace it until the second edition is published. The planning date is an estimate, not a deadline.
What the check applies
| Input | How it is used | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Edition | The 2023 edition or a mix with the base model scores lower than no formal model only when the reference is out of date; the action names the 2011 reference that was replaced. | ISO/IEC 25059:2023, clause 2 |
| Perspectives | Product only leaves quality in use uncovered. Service is uncovered unless the third model is named. | Clauses 5, 6 and 7 |
| Characteristics | None or some names the twelve characteristics and the ones most often missing. | Clauses 5.2 to 5.8, 6.2 to 6.3, 7.2 to 7.4 |
| Measures | A characteristic with no measure cannot be evaluated. The action asks for a measure, a method and a threshold. | Clause 1; the general terms |
| Owner and date | An unowned set is not controlled, so it will not be re-based. | Buyer practice; the record |
| Environment | In scope with a measure, planned, no, or not applicable with a reason. Each is a different action. | Clause 5.8 |
| Planning date | The date is compared with today and the record estimate. It sets the plan, not a deadline. | ISO page 88234 |
A blank answer returns scope incomplete and names the question. An unsure answer returns scope incomplete rather than a lighter pathway.
What the check does not do
- It does not audit the requirement set or decide whether it conforms.
- It does not replace the published standard or the base standards it cites.
- It does not decide a contract question about which edition applies.
- It does not certify anything or give legal advice.
The rules this is built from
Every line names its source. The 25 records are written from the published ISO/IEC 25059:2023, in our words, with the clause cited. The change layer is read from the public draft of the second edition and the ISO stage record. Where the public record is silent, the page says so.
Clause by clause, and the annexes
Each page states what the model element is, what the 2023 edition said, what the public draft changes, the evidence a reviewer asks for and the common gaps.
Open the recordThe change, labelled
The second edition adds a service model and environmental sustainability, and moves two characteristics to better parents. Each page says which and why.
What changesNo invented date
The FDIS is at 50.00. ISO records no publication date. The planning date is an estimate and is labelled wherever it appears.
