What changes in the ISO 25059 revision?
The public draft lists four changes: alignment with ISO/IEC 25010:2023, alignment with ISO/IEC 25019:2023, an AI service quality model based on ISO/IEC TS 25011:2017, and environmental sustainability as a sub-characteristic of performance efficiency. The title becomes plural because the document now holds three models.
The four changes
The foreword of the public draft names them. Two are alignment: the product model moves to the 2023 base and quality in use moves to its own 2023 standard. Two are additions: a service model with traceability, service adaptability and customizability, and environmental sustainability with environmental risk mitigation on the use side.
What moves
User controllability moves from usability to interaction capability. Intervenability moves from usability to safety. Neither changes its substance; both change their parent, and with it the part of the model a reviewer reads them against.
What the record does not show
The FDIS text is not public, so there is no public clause level diff. The changes are read from the public draft and labelled as draft. The change page marks every element and states the limit.
The change that matters today
The published edition cites the 2011 product quality model, which has been replaced. A requirement set that still cites it is out of date before the second edition appears. That is the sentence a board note needs, with the decision and the date beside it.
